We all are fond of salad keeping in mind that it helps in loosing weight. Let us find out whether it is a myth or truth.
We all believe that salad is a healthy food as well low in calories, in this case it is half truth. For example let us take a serving of chicken salad topped with cheese and salad or creamy dressing added with nuts. It contains approximate 900-1000 calories and about 70-80 grams of fat. Now take grilled chicken salad topped with mustered dressing and having two spoons of honey which makes to somewhere 200-250 calories and 5-10 grams of fat. It all rests with you how you prepare it, by adding creamy toppings, nuts, lots of cheese and mayonnaise etc. with fried or grilled chicken making it yummy and tasty. On the other hand you may choose grilled chicken, less creamy toppings and fewer nuts etc. making it diet salad.
As a vegan you may like to have salad with spinach, dark green leafy herbs and adding vegetables of your choice with non-creamy dressings (mustered or vinaigrette) etc making it belly filling with low calories and less fat.
You can have salad, which is low in calories, full of nutrients and high in fiber to satisfy your hunger. You can always choose healthier dressings which are low in calories and have less fat.
All salads and dressings are not weight loss friendly so you have to choose the ingredients which are low in calories and less in fats.
Fit Foodies Mantra Trick: when you want to eat your favourite dressing which is high in calories: ask your chef not to mix dressing in the salad but place it separately, dip your fork in the dressing before grabbing the salad and/or dilute dressing by adding a little bit of water.
